- Kills proprietor, robs wife of jewellery.
Linden McAlmont, called ‘Stone’, 50, of Annandale, East Coast Demerara, was killed after three men, one armed with a firearm and the others with knives, entered his shop at Mango Landing and held him up, along with his wife, Maureen. Police in an official release noted that McAlmont received several shots about his body during the ordeal. His wife was reportedly held and robbed of her jewellery by the men who successfully escaped.
McAlmont’s wife noted that after seeing her husband shot and motionless, she handed over an ounce of gold and $30,000 to the men. The men turned their attention to a couple of rooms at the location, robbing and beating the sole occupant. He is said to have lost his cellular phone. After the men fled the scene, the victims contacted the police at Mahdia who later visited the scene and transported McAlmont’s body to the Mahdia Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are currently investigating the matter.
