A Roraima Airways Islander aircraft crashed on Tuesday afternoon, claiming the life of the company’s Chief Pilot, Captain Collin Martin.
Commander of “F” Division, Ravindradat Budhram, told Nightly News that this tragedy took place at the Eteringbang airstrip, Region Seven, around 17:53h when Captain Martin was attempting to land his aircraft.
The Roraima Airways Captain was the only person on board the aircraft when the incident occurred during a routine shuttle flight into the Eteringbang location.
According to the Commander, it was reported that another pilot from Roraima Airways who was en route to the same airstrip, noticed the crashed plane and alerted the relevant authorities. Captain Martin’s body was removed from the wreckage and transported to Georgetown.
It is unclear at this point, as to what caused the crash but investigations are presently underway, said Commander Budhram.
