A 17 year old boy is one of Guyana’s latest fatal Hit and Run accident victim after a white wagon car turned into the path of the cy clist at Ogle Railway Embankment East Coast Demerara on October 24.
Reports from the scene suggest that Romeo Edghill was riding his motorbike on the Ogle Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara and the said white motorcar was proceeding in the said direction in front of the motorcyclist.
Edghill was in the process of overtaking the white motorcar, when it suddenly made a right turn south into Ogle Access Road and in the process collided into the rear portion of the motorcycle causing the the youth to lose control and fall onto the road surface.
As a result of the collision Edghill – who was not wearing a helmet – received injuries to his head and other parts of his body.
The unknown car then fled the accident scene.
The motorcyclist was picked up in a conscious state, with help from public-spirited citizens, and placed in an ambulance which took the injured motorcyclist to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.
The body is presently lying at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortary awaiting post mortem examination.
Further checks are in progress for the said unknown motorcar as investigations continue.
