25 year old Found With Ecstasy Charged

25 year old Winston Bourne appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court via Zoom before Magistrate Wanda Fortune, where he was granted $35,000 bail after pleading not guilty
to narcotics related charges on Monday.

Bourne of Lot 204 Wismar Housing Scheme, Wismar Linden appeared in court to answer to the charge of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking; Contrary to Section 5 (1) (a) (i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Control Act 10:10 of the Laws of Guyana.

According to the police report, on 2022-04-02 about 23:30 hours police ranks of Region #10 who were on mobile patrol duties went to Sunflower Street, Wismar, Linden where two males were seen conversing on a bridge.

One of the men – 25-year-old Winston Bourne – who was sitting on a black electric scooter attempted to drop his scooter and run through the street while the other male dropped a haversack he was carrying and made good his escape.

Bourne attempted to throw away a transparent plastic which was in his hand but failed to do so. The ranks took possession of the transparent plastic bag which was examined in his presence and same contained several orange and grey tablet-like substances with the markings of a skull and the word “Fanta” on then – suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or ‘Ecstasy’).

He was told of the ranks suspicion and the offence committed, cautioned and he replied saying “What y’all can do for me, I buy these ecstacy to turn over from that man y’all see run away. Things tight with me, what y’all can do for me”.

He was then arrested and escorted to the MacKenzie Police Station where the suspected Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or ‘Ecstasy’) was weighed in his presence and amounted to 30 grams.
