3 year old hospitalised after being hit by vehicle while running across road

Police have reported that a 3 year old pedestrian was involved in an accident on the Parika Access Road East Bank Essequibo on Tuesday afternoon.

It is alleged by the driver of motor car PXX 9412 owned and driven by Lorna Boodhoo that the pedestrian was left unsupervised on the road which resulted in the accident. Police stated that the child ran across the road but was however hit even though efforts were made to avoid the collision. The child fell onto the road where she sustained injuries about her body and was picked up in a conscious state by her 21 year old mother and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital. The pedestrian was later transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where she is receiving treatment for her fractured left leg. Her condition is regarded as stable. Breathalyzer test administered to the driver and no alcohol was found in her breath. Investigation is ongoing.
