A 47-year-old pedal cyclist is now dead after he allegedly suddenly changed direction and ended up in a speeding minibus’ way.
According to the police, the minibus driven by Surujpaul Bissoon was on the Strangroen Public Road, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara when he claims that he saw the pedal cyclist, cycling in front of him on the road when he (cyclist) suddenly changed directions and ended up into his path.
The driver applied brakes to avoid a collision, but despite his efforts, he collided with the pedal cyclist.
The 47-year-old cyclist, Seebaran Dhankumar was picked up and taken to the Mahaicony Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
The driver is in custody assisting with the investigation.
