A heated search is on for four high-profile inmates who escaped from the Mazaruni Prison by cutting the bars on Tuesday. On the run are 25- year-old Imran Ramsaywack, 44-year-old Kenrick Lyte, Samuel Gouveia, aged 26, and 22-year-old Ryan Jones.
A joint patrol was established which initiated the search for the men who were all serving hefty sentences relating to murder and manslaughter.
The police also appealed to the escapees to surrender and avoid a possible confrontation. Bartician Ryan Jones was sentenced to 28 years in prison back in 2018 after he pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of a Timehri mechanic.
Lyte was serving a life sentence for the murder of a pensioner, while Ramsaywack was initially sentenced to death for the 2015 murder of a Buxton woman.
Gouveia was serving a life sentence for the murder of a minor. Anyone with information that may lead to the fugitives’ arrest is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 911, 455-2238 or 226-4585.
