ANOTHER MARKET VENDOR CHARGED WITH MURDER

Another market vendor, this time from Mahaica, was remanded to prison for murder. Police say that the vendor was one of three men last seen with the victim. Javone Vickerie reports.

The accused, Natton Anthony Stoute of Helena, Number Two, Mahaica; East Coast Demerara was remanded to prison for the murder of another market vendor at Mahaica. Stoute was arraigned in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on February 26, 2018, at Rock Creek, Cuyuni River; Region Seven, he murdered Bibi Shaneeza Bhola. The charge was read by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan who remanded the man to prison.

He will make his next court appearance in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court until January 17. According to police, Stoute was one of two men who was last seen with the woman at Rock Creek. Stoute and another are believed to have left the area after robbing and stabbing the woman to death.

Bhola, 35, of Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara was found dead in her shop at Rock Creek, Cuyuni River. The woman operated the shop while her husband worked in a mining camp. Police say she was stabbed in her abdomen. It is believed that the men carted off cash, jewelry, and other valuable items.
