President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, has committed his country’s support towards bridging the gaps in Guyana’s Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) response.
This pledge was made during talks between Guyana’s President, Irfaan Ali, and the Argentine Head-of-State.
This commitment made by President Fernández includes enhancing Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing capacity, the provision of equipment and vaccines.
Accoring to the Argentine authorities, all countries except Brazil will have a guaranteed 20 percent of its demands for the COVID-19 vaccines met.
HGP Nightly News understands that these vaccines are manufactured by AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine and Pfizer.
These vaccines are reportedly being developed in Argentina and distributed from Mexico.
The Pfizer vaccine will be ready in Argentina during the month of November this year.
Meanwhile, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be ready by March 2021.
The Health Ministers of both countries will meet tomorrow to advance discussions in this regard.
