During a press conference on Thursday, Attorney at Law Dexter Todd shared
his experience as a lawyer representing those accused of crimes. Todd is the
opinion that there is a need for more thorough investigations.
The Guyana Police Force at a recent media engagement boasted of a
high clear up of more than 70% for a host of cases that were brought
before the courts in 2018.
Among the crimes investigated were murder, armed robbery, and
more recently rape. According to Attorney-at-Law Dexter Todd,
dealing with criminal matters in the courts in 2018 came with
challenges.
Todd, who is also a member of the Bar Association outlined that
those challenges derive from the quality of investigations done by
the police. He claimed that poor quality of investigations is still
prevalent.
