Bandit(s) steal over $600,000 worth in alcohol, other items from grocery shop

A 57-year-old grocer is now counting her losses after her Grocery Store was burglarized and several items inclusive of alcoholic beverages, costing more than $600,000 in total, were stolen between, Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The businesswoman, identified as Nafiza Samtani, of Hague village, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was in her home when the alleged Break-in occurred.

Her business place was established at a location along the Anna Catherina Public Road, WCD, which she is currently rents.

The crimes were committed between 21:30h on Tuesday and 04:00h on Wednesday.

HGP Nightly News understands that the woman’s grocery store is a wooden and concrete structure that is attached to the Western side of the building which also houses the “Caribbean Temptation” Sports Bar.

She told the cops that between the dates and time mentioned above, she had secured her business place by “all the means provided”, leaving everything intact, before she headed to her home.

Samtani told the cops that she later received a telephone call from her landlord who notified her that her Grocery Store had been burglarized.
