Sandy Persaud, 34, of No. 55 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, is fighting for her life after being brutally chopped by her lover on Wednesday.
HGP Nightly News understands that the incident occurred at about 05:15h at No. 55 Village, Back Street. The suspect has been identified as Sasarina Sankar, a barber.
Reports are that the suspect got enraged after learning that Persaud was making arrangements to travel overseas.
He then launched the attack and fled the scene while the injured woman was picked up and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital.Â
