A barber is now in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being stabbed in his barbershop by a 23-year-old.
The suspect went into the Belle West, West Bank Demerara barbershop and started an argument with 32-year-old Deokumar Lakhan then dealt him several stabs about his body causing him to receive injuries.
The barber then fell to the ground in an unconscious state and was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor on duty but was later referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a serious condition.
The suspect was later found and told of the offence and cautioned under the judge’s rules and he remained silent.
He was arrested and taken to the Wales Police Station, where he was placed into custody pending further investigations.
