Barber nabbed by cops at ‘car park’ with cannabis in Ziploc bags

A barber, who had been standing in front of the ‘car park’ at the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) on Sunday (yesterday), acting in a “suspicious manner” was arrested by cops who noticed the man’s strange behavior and subjected him to a search.

According to a police statement, around 21:40h on Sunday, a patrol duty being conducted ventured towards the ‘car park’ when they observed the man’s suspicious behavior and ranks approached him then requested to conduct a search.

The barber agreed to the cops’ request and during the search five (5) transparent Ziploc plastic bags, each containing a quantity of suspected cannabis seeds, leaves and stems, were discovered on his person.

He was told of the suspicion, cautioned and arrested then taken to the Leonora Police Station, West Coast Demerara (WCD), where the cannabis sativa was weighed in his presence and amounted to 11 grammes.

The barber is currently in police custody pending charges.
