38-year-old miner Damyon Gibson is now dead after a branch from a tree fell and struck him to his head.
The incident occurred about 12:00 hours on Tuesday 29th March 2022, at Two Point Backdam, Cuyuni River. Gibson of lot 17 Caribese Hill, Bartica, Essequibo River, who was the owner of a 4 inch-land dredging operation at Two Point Backdam was standing with a friend talking at the work ground when suddenly a branch from a nearby tree fell and struck him to his head, causing him to received injuries.
His workers rushed to his assistance and took him to Aurora Mining Company, Cuyuni River, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. His body was later transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital where police observed injuries to his head and right hand.
The body is presently lying at the Bartica Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
