Berbice man viciously chopped, has fingers severed by cutlass wielding assailant

A male suspect is now in police custody after he reportedly severed a 40-year-old man’s fingers and chopped him to the chest. According to the Police, the victim Rajindra Dhoray who was experiencing domestic problems with his reputed wife, left his Topoo Albion Corentyne, Berbice home on a bicycle and went to the shop to purchase bread and while on the way back the victim saw the suspect on the street with a cutlass in his hand.

As Dhoray was about to pass the suspect, the suspect reportedly pulled the 40-year-old off his bicycle and dealt him a chop to his right hand, which caused two of his fingers to be severed; and another chop to his chest which caused him to receive further injuries.

An alarm was then immediately raised by the victim’s daughter causing the suspect to escape. The man’s daughter picked him up and transported him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he is admitted as a patient.

As a result, investigators have since made contact with the suspect where he was told of the allegations and arrested and placed in custody pending further investigations.
