Body of Demerara Harbour Bridge jumper recovered

Police have confirmed that the body of the male motorcyclist who allegedly jumped off the Demerara Harbour Bridge (DHB) on Sunday, July 11 has been found.

Police said the deceased, identified as Dellon Thorn, was found by a jogger on the shores of Kingston, Georgetown around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13.

The body, which was partly decomposed, identified by his relatives.

Thorn’s body is at a funeral home awaiting a post-mortem.

Police began searching for Thorn’s body after a driver of a motor vehicle stopped on the eastern side of the DHB and told police that he saw a male jump into the Demerara River from the bridge.

Police said an alarm was raised and officers from the Providence Police Station went to the Harbour Bridge where they observed a black CG motorcycle, #CH4923, parked on the northern side of the bridge, facing west, with its engine on.
