Two men arrested by the police at illegal mining sites in Guyana’s New River Triangle have been charged with several offenses and remanded to prison. The men, identified as a Brazilian pilot and a miner, were taken into custody by the authorities days before the charges were laid against them.
According to reports, the Brazilian pilot was charged with illegally landing an aircraft in Guyana, while the miner was accused of mining without a license. Both men were also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The charges were read to them on Monday. Tiana Cole reports.
