Two young women have been remanded to prison after Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers discovered cannabis in their Albouystown apartment earlier this week.
Shantell Evans, 24, and Timhara Evans, 19, both pleaded not guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, but were refused bail when they appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daley on Friday, according to a CANU press release.
According to the facts of the case as outlined by the release, CANU officers carried out a search on a two-storey apartment building located at Lot 169, James Street, Albouystown on Wednesday, July 14 and discovered two black plastic bags containing cannabis, weighing 518.07 grams, along with a small scale.
The women are scheduled to reappear in court on August 8, 2021.
