Carpenter allegedly shot by mechanic during row over game

A 43-year-old carpenter is now suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen after he was reportedly shot during an argument over a game of pool at Zeelugt Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) on Monday (yesterday).

The suspect, who is said to be a 34-year-old mechanic, is still on the run from the cops.

Reports are that yesterday (Monday), the two men were quarrelling about a game of pool when the suspect whipped out a handgun from his waist and fired a shot to the carpenter’s abdomen.

He (suspect) then made good his escape in a “white wagon motorcar.”

The bleeding 43-year-old carpenter was picked up and rushed to Leonora Cottage Hospital, West Coast Demerara (WCD), where he was treated by the doctor on duty and admitted as a patient.

He was later transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is presently admitted a patient and is said to be in a serious condition.

According to the police, “checks were made for the suspect but he was not contacted.”

The investigation continues as the cops intensify their hunt for the 34-year-old suspect.
