Chinese national, taxi drivers remanded to prison for attempting to traffic liquid cocaine in juice boxes

On Monday, Chinese national Xiu Feng Wang appeared before her worship Ann Mc Mc Lennan at the Georgetown Magistrate Court to answer the charge of Trafficking in narcotics. 

The 26 year old Chinese national along with two taxi drivers- Bernard Persaud, 41; and Godfrey Neblette, 40, were on Monday remanded to prison for attempting to traffic 19 pounds of cocaine. The men were charged in connection with the discovery of liquefied cocaine concealed in six carton boxes of juice within a package containing snacks by CANU officers at DHL Express Guyana on 17th February 2022. 

The narcotics when weighed had a total of 8.8kg, with a street value of GY$4.4 million.

The men all pleaded not guilty. Weng was remanded to prison until March 17 while the others were remanded until March 8, 2022.
