CLOTHES VENDOR FATALLY STABBED DURING FIGHT, ALLEGED PERPETRATOR IN CUSTODY

40-year-old Aubrey Baird clothes vendor of Lot 22 E Hardina Street, Georgetown, lost the battle to stay alive after the was stabbed during a fight with another man on Tuesday night around 21:00hrs.
A 46-year-old suspect is in police custody.

According to eyewitnesses, Baird and the accused were seen scuffling in a drain and as the scuffle ensued it was further observed that the deceased dealt the suspect a lash to his body with a piece of wood.

The suspect who was armed with a knife dealt the victim two stabs to his left side upper chest. He then attempted to make good his escape on a pedal cycle but was apprehended by public-spirited citizens and subsequently handed over to police.

The injured man was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead at approximately 21:40 hrs whilst receiving treatment by a doctor on duty.

While the cause of the fight is unclear, it is reported that Baird, his relatives, and friends were “liming” outside of the now dead man’s home and were laughing for reasons unknown when the suspect was passing by. An argument ensued and a fight erupted between Baird and the passerby.

The suspect was also escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted a patient under police guard in a stable condition.

A PME is expected to be done shortly as investigations continue.
