CODE OF CONDUCT FOR MINIBUS OPERATORS

In wake of the new Code of Conduct for Minibus Operators, drivers and conductors have shown great interest in the new idea. Yaniss Abrams Reports.

A Code of Conduct for minibus operators which have been in the making since the fare increase in October 2018, has been formulated by the Consumer Affairs Division of the Ministry of Business. The Business Ministry insists that the Code of Conduct is mandatory for all minibus operators. It was published on the Facebook page of the Ministry of business.

Nightly News spoke with a number of Minibus operators about the Code of Conduct. One Minibus operator indicated that the United Minibus Union has not approached operators plying his route about the initiative. He believes they should have been consulted first.

President of the United Minibus Union Eon Andrews says the union is currently in discussions with the Guyana Police Force with a view to ensuring the enforcement of the Code of conduct.
