Cop under ‘close arrest’ for allegedly punching man who was apologizing for assaulting policemen

A police rank has landed himself in hot water and is under “close arrest” after he allegedly punched a male civilian multiple times on Thursday (yesterday)  while the man was publicly apologizing to policemen for assaulting them.

The cop in question has been identified as Constable Harmon who is attached to Bartica Police Station, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

According to reports, Georgeno Tevrieden was charged on Saturday for assaulting two (2) police officers and was ordered by the Court to publicly apologise to those ranks.

When he showed up at the Bartica Police Station to execute the order he received from the Court, Constable Harmon reportedly approached the man and dealt several cuffs to his body.

As a result of the assault by Constable Harmon, he sustained injuries, and was taken to the Bartica Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Constable Harmon was immediately taken into custody and a probe has been launched.
