COVID-19 | 31 CONFIRMED CASES, 5 DEATHS & 8 RECOVERED CASES

Minister of Public Health, Hon. Volda Lawrence disclosed on Monday, that Guyana now records 31 cases of the coronavirus with 8 persons recovering after being in isolation.

Minister Larwrence at the time mentioned four deaths with one patient being critical, however later on Monday evening one Deryc Jaisingh known as “Mad-Dog” succumbed to the deadly disease bringing the total number of deaths to five.

HGP understands that Jaisingh’s health appeared to have been improving then suddenly his conditions worsened.

In her briefing, Minister Lawrence mentioned that a total of eight persons have recovered all of which were associated with Guyana’s first case. Also three relatives of the index case were tested twice of which returned negative for each person.

A total of 115 persons were tested with 31 returning positive and 84 being negative. Minister also said that 35 persons are currently in institutional quarantine of which 10 persons are from Region 3, 22 from Region 4 and 3 persons are from Region 6.

With regards to institutional isolation, Minister disclosed that 23 persons are currently isolated while 8 persons are hospitalised.
