Crashed motorcycle missing, injured motorcyclist refuses breathalyzer test: police

A 24-year-old man is nursing injuries at a hospital after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the Airy Hall Public Road in Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara on Wednesday evening, around 9:00. However, police said the motorcycle was not found at the scene and the driver has refused to take a breathalyzer test — complaining of chest pain.

The injured driver has been identified as Akeim Casey of Catherine, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

According to a news release, Casey told police that he lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the road while he was in the process of negotiating a left bend. He said at the time of the crash he was travelling east along the Airy Hall Public Road.

Police said Casey was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a conscious condition and taken to Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where he was admitted.
