A number of Cuban nationals have been robbed under arms in Amelia’s Ward Linden on Tuesday at about 23:00hrs.
According to reports, a 50-year-old doctor went to the residence of 3 other male contractors to consume alcohol while one of the doors were wide opened. About ten minutes into the visit, he went to use the washroom after hearing a loud explosion of what appeared to be a gunshot. Thereafter, the lights in the house went off.
As the doctor went to check, he was confronted by the suspect at gunpoint who relieved him of One gold wedding band valued at $100,000.00, one Samsung Galaxy A 57 valued $77,000.00, and $18,000.00 cash. He was then ordered to lay on the floor facing down with the other Cubans . The house was then ransacked by the gunman where he took $12,000 cash and $2,000 Cuban dollars and later escaped on foot.
According to the men, the entire ordeal lasted about an hour. One of the contractors claimed that when the suspect discharged the round, he was in close proximity which caused the bullet to graze his forehead causing him to receive a small abrasion. He was then escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where treated and sent away. Checks were made in the area for the suspect ,but without success. Police investigation is ongoing.
