The Government of Guyana on Wednesday morning inked a US$260 million contract for the new Demerara River Bridge with the China Railway Construction Corporation International.
The 2.65km length bridge is expected to be from Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara to La Grange, West Bank Demerara and is expected to have a lifespan of 100 years.
The project that is being “The single largest public infrastructure project ever undertaken in the history of Guyana” is slated to be completed within two years.
The singing ceremony was held on the eastern side of where the bridge is expected to be on the East Bank Demerara (EBD).
It is being undertaken via a joint venture, led by China Railway Construction Corporation International.
