A Post Mortem Examination is expected to be conducted soon on Barah Matthews called Patsy following the discovery of her motionless body by her son in her bedroom.
According to the Berbice police, the deceased of Lot 6 James Street, Rampoor Springlands, Corriverton Berbice, who lives alone was last seen alive and well on August 10 by Peter Matthews, her son, at 13:00hrs where they spoke for a while after which he left.
According to Mathews, on August 12, he made several phone calls to his mom which went unanswered throughout the day. He told police, at about 21:50hrs on the said day, he went to his mother’s home where he found the entire house secured from the inside and forced entry where he found the 75 year old woman lying face up in her bedroom.
The matter was later reported to the police who observed that the body was in a high decomposed state.
It was then escorted to the Skeldon Public Hospital where it was certified dead by a doctor on duty before being taken to the Anthony’s Funeral Home and places in cold storage.
