One month after brutally murdering his wife, the partially decomposed body of Vijaimal Raj was discovered on Monday in Enmore backlands.

56 year old Vijaimal Raj of Foulis, East Coast Demerara was wanted by police for the heinous murder of his wife, 57-year-old Savitri Raj on April 12. The mother of three was reportedly stabbed while she slept.

He was accompanied by an Inspector and a party of Policemen to the area where, on arrival, the body of the deceased was in an advanced stage of decomposition, clad in a red jersey, blue short pants and black cap and lying under a light blue mosquito netting on some cloth and salt bags.

Two bottles of insecticide were seen next to the body.

The body of the deceased man was positively identified by his son, Besham Raj.

Prior to the savage murder, Vijaimal called ‘Zaro,’ was accused of being abusive to his wife. The two were married for three decades.

Just one day after the brutal murder, the couple was supposed to make their first court appearance.

On the night in question, after committing the heinous act, Raj was seen escaping through a window. A wanted bulletin was issued for him but he was never caught.
