On Thursday, the Demerara Harbour Bridge in Guyana reopened to vehicular traffic at 6 pm. The bridge had been closed for three days to facilitate the replacement of span nine, which had been damaged in a collision with a fuel tanker last year.
The closure of the Demerara Harbour Bridge from Monday, July 24, until Thursday, July 27, caused some inconvenience to commuters and businesses that rely on the bridge for transportation and trade between the east and west banks of the Demerara River. Renata Burnette has the details.
