DG HARMON COMMISSIONED PLAYGROUND IN PLAISANCE

Director-General of the Ministry of the Presidency Joseph Harmon on Saturday, February 8, 2020, commissioned a community playground in Plaisance, East Coast Demerara in keeping with an earlier promise.

The ground was a collaborative effort between central government, the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) and the Plaisance/Industry Neighbourhood Democratic Council.

The Director-General noted that residents had highlighted the state of the unfinished playground during a community walkabout last year.

“The young men had nowhere proper to play so we undertook to have resources allocated to it,” Harmon said. The finished facility is fenced and has a sanitary block, a pavilion, and lights.

Several footballs were also presented to the young people in the community.

Demerara-Mahaica RDC Chair, Genevieve Allen urged the residents to play their role in the upkeep of the ground. “I trust that the community takes ownership of this ground and that our young people will use the facility wisely,” she said.
