The completely disfigured body of a 51-year-old rice farmer was discovered by his son after the older man had left their residence to pump water in their rice field located at the Esau and Jacob back dam, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The deceased has been identified as Seegobin Persaud, a rice farmer of Mortis, Mahaicony, ECD, who was found lifeless on Sunday (yesterday).
According to investigators, Persaud would usually use a water pump that is attached to his tractor, to ensure that his land/produce have sufficient water regularly.
He was last seen alive heading into his rice field with his tractor (# 13209) which had a water pump attached to it.
HGP Nightly News was told that around 15:00h on the day in question, the now dead man’s son discovered his father’s body in the water pump “completely disfigured.”
According to the police, Persaud’s body parts were escorted to the Mahaicony Hospital and although several persons were contacted and questioned about the man’s demise, no useful information was gathered
Investigations into his death continue.
