Driver arrested after cops find over 4,000 grams of cannabis in car bumper

A 42-year-old man has found himself in hot water after cops discovered nine (9) bulky parcels containing marijuana stashed inside of the back bumper of a vehicle that he was driving on Monday (yesterday) morning.

The discovery was made around 1:48h on the day in question by ranks attached to the Weldaad Police Station, Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), during a road block along the Weldaad Public Road.

Reports are that the policemen stopped the car that was being driven by the 42-year-old Corentyne, Berbice resident and conducted a search in the vehicle.

They unearthed nine (9) transparent, bulky parcels containing a quantity of cannabis seeds, leaves and stems.

According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the driver was told of the offence, arrested and cautioned.

“At the police station the suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to 4318 grams. The driver was placed in custody. Investigations are ongoing.”
