A driver who was involved in a serious accident that left a senior police officer injured was granted bail when he appeared in the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, according to a police news release.
Abdool Safraz Nazir was charged last Friday, July 16, 2021 for failing to stop after an accident, failing to render assistance and driving, and driving under the influence.
Police said he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was placed on $20,000 for each charge and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, August 16, 2021.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, resulting in the hospitalization of police sergeant major.
Nazir was driving motorcar No. PSS 3227.
