A 42-year-old woman and a 26-year-old male were hauled before the Court on Friday where they were charged jointly with the offence of Possession of Narcotics for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (control) Act Chapter 10:10.
Hemwattie Narine and Shawn Evan were arrested on Wednesday and appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court, West Coast Demerara (WCD), before Magistrate Zailla Ally-Seepaul yesterday, where the charge was read to them and they each pleaded “not guilty.”
They were granted bail to the sum $ 200,000.
The case has been adjourned to May 3, 2021 for report.
