EAST BANK ROAD REOPENS; DEMERARA BRIDGE PROJECT ON TRACK TO MEET REVISED DEADLINE

By Tiana Cole | HGPTV Nightly Newsroom

Traffic is flowing once again along the East Bank Demerara Corridor after a key section of the public road was temporarily closed to facilitate critical works on the New Demerara River Bridge crossing.

The closure, which was part of the ongoing construction phase of the highly anticipated modern four-lane bridge, caused temporary delays and detours, but engineers have now completed the scheduled section, allowing vehicles to resume movement through the area.

According to officials, the bridge project is on track and remains a priority infrastructure undertaking, expected to transform connectivity and reduce travel time between Georgetown and the West Bank.

“We thank commuters for their patience and urge continued caution as work progresses,” a Public Works representative said.

The Ministry of Public Works has assured the public that future closures or diversions will be communicated in advance, and that all efforts are being made to minimize disruptions.
