Eighteen year old miner succumbs

The eighteen year old Tuschen resident, who was attacked in his mining camp, succumbed to his injuries a mere four days after the brutal assault. Danesh Rampersaud of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo died this morning, Monday, September 22, at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

According to the police, on September 18, Joseph Nurse of Belmonte, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was in his camp at 14 Miles, Issano, with two of his workers when they were attacked and beaten by two men armed with a piece of wood and a gun. They demanded gold and money and subsequently tied up the men and left the camp.

Rampersaud freed himself and his colleagues and they were subsequently taken to Troy’s Resources Medical Centre for medical treatment.

The following day Rampersaud was air dashed to Georgetown and admitted a patient at the GPHC until the time of his death. Investigations are continuing.
