A 31-year-old female along with a 24-year-old male are now in police custody after the cops discovered a transparent plastic containing cannabis seeds, stems and leaves stashed under a chicken pen in the couple’s yard.
The discovery was made on Wednesday (yesterday) at the couple’s Logwood, Enmore Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara (ECD) address.
Reports are that on the day in question, police ranks who were acting on information, swooped down at the duo’s residence and carried out a search on the above-mentioned premises, in the presence of both the man and woman.
Upon the discovery of the illegal substance, the couple denied knowledge of the narcotics, and the cops told them of the offence, cautioned them and then escorted the duo to the Cove and John Police Station, ECD, where they were immediately placed into custody.
According to the police, the bag (plastic) containing the cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 22.4 grammes.
An investigation is ongoing.
