The Faculty of Natural Science received equipment from ExxonMobil at the cost of $400,00 USD.Yaniss Abrams Reports
In 2015, a fire destroyed some sections of the University of Guyana’s Faculty of Natural Sciences building which housed the equipment for various departments. Among the items destroyed in the fire were all the physics laboratory equipment and other equipment belonging to other departments in the faculty.
In 2016, the University approached ExxonMobil for funds to replace the lab and that was fulfilled on Tuesday Morning. The Oil Giant donated equipment to the faculty in the tune of $40,000 USD.
Dean of the Natural Sciences Faculty Calvin Bernard said the fire in 2015 definitely impacted the faculty especially the Physics Programmed since it was crippling. Mr. Bernard recalled the date of the fire and expressed his gratitude for the donation.
