Father of newborn dies in Kaneville EBD yard after suspected robbery

A newborn baby is now left fatherless after an alleged murder occurred at Kaneville East Bank Demerara on Thursday night.
According to reports, Nelson Thomas returned to Region 4 alongside his wife after spending some time in the interior to register the newborn baby on Thursday midday.
Police said that around 19:00hrs, Thomas who’s call name is ‘Nelo’ told his mother whom he lives with at 4th Street Kaneville EBD, that he was going to visit his uncle two streets away.
However, a resident stated that at 21:30 hrs he was aroused by the voice of someone calling for him, and upon checking he saw the miner laying motionless in his yard under a shed attached to his house with what appears to be blood about his body.
He called the police and reported the matter at Grove Police Station.
It appears that the deceased was returning home when the suspect(s) attempted to rob him and stabbed him in the process.
The body was later escorted to Diamond Public Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival and was later escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Parlour awaiting post mortem examination.
