Four people from Corentyne, Berbice, including a female, are now behind bars after they were nabbed on Thursday by the police for drug-related offences.
The police said in a statement Friday that the suspects, an 18-year-old male, a 24-year-old male, a 26-year-old male and a 29-year-old female, were all charged for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking 73 grams of suspected cannabis.
Police said all four persons were arrested when a group of police officers conducted foot patrols in Lancaster and Manchester villages in Corentyne, Berbice.
The 18-year-old male and the 24-year-old-male were picked up in Lancaster village after police searched a group of men who were together, while the 26-year-old male and the 29-year-old female were caught with the illegal drug “on their person” in Manchester village.
