A female cop along with others who were inside of a supermarket were robbed by three (3) bicycle bandits, one (1) of whom was subsequently found in an unconscious state on a street and is currently in police custody.
The crime took place on Arrival Day (May 6) at the supermarket located in Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) where one (1) of the persons robbed is said to be Police Special Constable, Crystal Walter.
Reports are that an anonymous caller contacted ranks at the Beterverwagting Police Station, ECD, to report that a robbery that was executed at the above-mentioned supermarket by three (3) suspects dressed in black and wore black hoodies.
According to a police statement, the suspects were said to have made good their escape on three (3) black bicycles.
“Further information led police to a street in Mon Repos, North where a male who was wearing a black hoodie and dressed in black was on the street and in an unconscious state. He was lying next to a damaged black bicycle. The male, who had no external injuries, was escorted to Beterverwagting Police Station, where the victim identified him to be one of the individuals that robbed her and others in the supermarket.”
The cops noted that the sum of $21,500 cash was found in the suspect’s possession.
“He was then escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he is presently in the emergency room seeking medical attention and under police guard.”
Investigations continue.
