Former Minister of Finance Winston Jordan was formally charged with misconduct in public office on Monday and subsequently granted $150,000 bail.
Jordan appeared in court to answer the charge, which stems from his tenure under the previous administration. The specifics of the allegation were not immediately disclosed in open court, but sources close to the case say the charge relates to a transaction involving state assets.
The former minister was not required to enter a plea, and the matter has been adjourned to allow for further proceedings.
This development marks another high-profile case as the legal system scrutinizes decisions made during Jordan’s office. His legal team has indicated they will vigorously contest the charge.
