Four men were on Wednesday arrested in connection with the discovery of two shotguns and ammunition at 19 Miles Kwakwani/Ituni (Upper Demerara Upper Berbice), police said in a news release.
Police said the suspects — ages 34, 23, 62, and 55 — were traveling in an unlicensed tractor when they were stopped by police officers patrolling the Ituni Station District.
The officers observed that the tractor did not carry a registration number.
Following a request for information by the ranks, police conducted a search of the tractor and its occupants and found two 12-gauge shotguns at the side of the tractor and behind the driver’s seat.
The officers also discovered 11 matching rounds in the pockets of two of the suspects.
“The men were arrested and taken to the Mackenzie Police Station where they remain in custody. The firearms and ammunition have since been lodged as investigations continue,” the release concluded.
