A bulky black plastic bag containing five (5) pairs of “Adidas” slippers and bamboo was discovered “aback the Lusignan Canefiled” by a Prison Officer attached to the Lusignan Penitentiary, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Thursday afternoon.
According to a police statement, the discovery was made around 12:30h after the Prison rank observed the bulky plastic bag on the ground, opposite of the Training School.
“He checked the said bag and same contained five pairs of Adidas slippers and bamboo. Subsequently he observed each pair of slipper containing transparent parcels containing a quantity of seeds, leaves and stems suspected to be cannabis (marijuana). The suspected narcotics was handed over to the Police which was weighed, sealed and lodged at the station.”
Investigations are ongoing.
