With the 2025 General and Regional Elections on the horizon, the Working People’s Alliance (WPA) is voicing serious concerns about the electoral process and the Guyana Elections Commission’s (GECOM) state of preparedness.
The party calls on GECOM, the incumbent administration, and all opposition parties to engage in meaningful dialogue and reach a national compromise to ensure the upcoming elections are free, fair, and transparent.
In a recent statement, the WPA warned that deepening public distrust in the electoral system, if left unaddressed, could further undermine democratic integrity and stoke political division.
“The success of any democratic process depends on the confidence of the people. We believe all stakeholders must sit down and find common ground to move forward,” the party stated.
The WPA also emphasized the need for reform in electoral procedures, enhanced voter education, and the implementation of biometric systems to prevent irregularities.
