A 44-year-old businesswoman and a 40-year-old male shopkeeper, both of a Georgetown address, have been arrested after police discovered a firearm and ammunition during a search of their premises on Friday.
According to a press release, between 6:30 a.m. and 8:25 a.m., a group of police officers searched for narcotics, guns, ammunition and stolen items on the business premises and living quarters of the businesswoman and the shopkeeper, both of Lot #35 Castello Housing Scheme.
The release further stated that a female officer searched the businesswoman, who was wrapped in a towel at the time, and found a firearm — a Brazil-made Taurus .32 revolver with two live .32 ammunition in it.
“The businesswoman and the shopkeeper were told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary. They remain in police custody assisting with the investigation. Meanwhile, the firearm and ammunition were sealed and lodged,” the release added.
