GPF inks MoA with Board of Industrial Training

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Ministry of Labour’s Board of Industrial Training signed a Memorandum of Agreement ( MoA) which will pave the way for a greater partnership between the two entities. As a result of the MoU inked there will be increased training as well as the re-skilling of persons in communities across Guyana. It is said that there will be more training opportunities for retired police personnel.

The MoU was signed at the Ministry of Labour’s Boardroom, Brickdam, by Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton; Commissioner of Police (ag), Clifton Hicken; Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ (ag.) Calvin Brutus; and CEO of the Board of Industrial Training, Richard Maughn.

It is said that police will be the key stakeholder to identify communities in consutation with parents/guardians.

“The fact that the police are closer to communities, we will want the police to point us to communities in an effort to develop young people so that the Board of Industrial Training can intervene to have positive outcomes in those communities.” Minister Hamilton said in his remarks.

Commissioner Hicken, reiterated the force’s commitment.

“With the MoA, a structured relationship will be in place to prepare the youths with various skill sets which will help to make them more marketable in the field of work,” the top cop said.
