GT&T CABLES VANDALIZED AGAIN

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company is currently in repair mode after suffering yet another episode of vandalism. The company is claiming approximately one million dollars in damages to some 480 feet of cable along the East Bank carriageway.

The company was made aware of these damages after an alarm was triggered in one of its sub stations. It was upon investigating this disruption that employees noticed the damaged cables. GT&T has confirmed that the damages took place in the community of Agricola.

The company is working feverishly, especially to restore connections back to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. The fact that emergency crew members had to be dispatched to find resolve to this issue, a delay to the scheduled works for the East Bank Demerara four lane extension projects resulted.
